Happy Monday! To get you amped for the coming days, we've culled a wondrous collection of L.A.-area events that is sure to delight. From indulging in your favorite boozy tendencies (Sake? Wine? Scotch? All of the above?) to vintage-clothing hunts and a screening of a most beloved Sean Penn classic, we've got your week worked out. You're welcome!
CHAYA Downtown’s Japanese Summer Beer Garden Kick-Off Party
Give a rowdy welcome back to CHAYA Downtown's Japanese Beer Garden this Thursday evening. A promise of live music, sake-infused cocktails, pitchers of Kirin, and the sweet smell of skewers roasting on the open Yakitori grill will have us running, not walking, to get our fill.
When: Thursday, June 7 at 4 p.m.
Where: Garden Patio, Bar/Lounge at Chaya Downtown, 525 South Flower Street (between West 5th and West 6th streets); 213-236-9677.
Maps & Atlases at the Troubadour
Chicago-formed Maps & Atlases is known for its exploration of a genre called Math Rock. The group tapes guitar parts and plays with syncopation. The result is a highly unique sound, and promises to be a killer live show.

Price: $13 Advance, $15 day of show. Purchase here.
L.A. WineFest
With over 500 wines, spirits, and brews in attendance, plus a whole schedule of educational classes on proper pairings and more, attending the L.A. WineFest is a total no-brainer. Throw in a sprinkling of gourmet food trucks and some live music, and we can already imagine ourselves strolling (err, stumbling around) the historic Raleigh Studios with our stemmed glass(es) in hand.
When: Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Historic Raleigh Studios, 5300 Melrose Avenue (at North Van Ness Avenue).
Price: Single Adult Ticket, $75. Couple Ticket, $139. Designated Driver Ticket, $20. Purchase here.
The Helms Design District Vintage Boutique Kick-Off Event
There's no disguising our love of vintage markets. You know the phrase "a kid in a candy shop?" Well, that's us. The Helms Design District Trunk Show, now in its third year, is hosting a kick-off event that will include raffles of gift certificates to downtown shop Clever Vintage Clothing, treats from the Girl Scouts of America, and, hey, first dibs on all the goods.
When: Saturday, June 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: LightSpace Studio, 8755 Washington Boulevard (at National Boulevard); 310-280-0082.
Price: Check here.
Eat See Hear presents Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Musical Guest Kevin Martin
This movie needs no introduction, but we'll try. Think of everything you associate with '80s-era high school movies and dial it up about five notches, Cali style. Then, throw in a hilariously, perpetually stoney Sean Penn. Sound good? Eat See Hear even goes so far as to supply an assortment of food trucks on the premises and live music before the screening.
When: Saturday, June 9, doors at 5:30 p.m; band at 7 p.m.; movie at 8:30 p.m.
Where: Milikan Middle School, 5041 Sunnyslope Avenue, Sherman Oaks.
Price: $10 General Admission, $20 Fashionably Late. Purchase here.
