Vogue Gives Busty Girls A Major Shout-Out In This Editorial

For all the many ways that Vogue is a leader in the fashion industry, the one thing it certainly hasn't excelled at is representing a wide variety of bodies within its glossy pages. There are models, actresses, and beautiful women from all corners of the world. But, generally, the magazine's body type of choice has always skewed way smaller than average, which happens to be around a size 12 in the U.S.
But, since the relaunch of Vogue.com and the wider breadth of content it brings, the brand has stepped into the important body-diversity conversation, and its “Give me a D! Give me an F!” editorial is the latest example.
The spread lives up to its claim. It features models such as Candice Huffine, Marquita Pring, and Ashley Graham — the last of whom is the creator of ALDA, a coalition of models devoted to body diversity in fashion, and has launched a line of DD+ lingerie with Addition Elle — posing in the prettiest of demi cups and balconettes. And, as the headline suggests, the women also fill out a bra a bit more than your average Vogue cover girl.
The black-and-white photos are stunning, sexy, and — like Calvin Klein’s latest add campaign — don’t have to explicitly call attention to the fact that its models are above the straight-size norm. Instead, Vogue's message is simply that bras are personal, important, and everyone should get to wear the pretty one that she deserves.
It’s a big step in a great direction for Vogue, which featured Huffine inside the April issue and famously placed three plus-size models on the cover of Vogue Italia in 2011. And, furthermore, it makes us hopeful that we’ll eventually even see women from all size spectrums — straight, plus, and in-betweenie — represented together within its pages without the labels attached. After all, if there’s anything these ladies have in common, it’s probably wearing a bra. Check out some of the images ahead, and the full feature on Vogue.com.
