3 Cocktail Recipes Worthy Of An Emmy!

While we wish we could strut down the red carpet and watch this Sunday's Emmys next to Tina Fey or Lena Dunham, we'll just be viewing the show from our big comfy couch. And, like any red carpet event, we're going to put on the ritz, make our own guest list, and host an Emmy-inspired watch party complete with (our favorite concept ever) themed drinks.
Yes, you'll need the perfect hors d'oeuvres, conversation, and atmosphere, but don't forget the question on everyone's mind: what will we imbibe on? In honor of the nominees and a little bit of tipsy fun, we've rounded up the three must-have cocktails worthy of an award and inspired by some top winners.

Whether you're rooting for Downton Abbey, Mad Men, American Horror Story, or Sesame Street (who wouldn't?), these recipes are sure to make the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards the most memorable to date (or not). Bottoms up!

The Downton Abbey Cooler

With a 2011 Emmy and just two seasons under their belts, the cast and crew of PBS' Downtown Abbey doesn't need an excuse to celebrate. And neither do you. Channel your inner 20th-century Briton and prepare a 1912-inspired drink for all. We suggest using Hendrick's gin, known for its cucumber and rose pedal taste, to make the perfect cooler.

Recipe:

1 1/2 ounces of gin

3/4 ounces of flavored liqueur

3/4 ounces fresh lime juice

1/4 ounce of simple syrup

A splash of soda water

5 mint leaves

Grab a tall glass, mix it up, add ice and top with seltzer and some cucumber garnish. Enjoy!

The Mad Men Martini

The sex. The business. The endless amounts of cigarettes. Nothing screams Don Draper louder than whisky. But of course, Mr. Draper isn't the only Mad Men standout, so it's only appropriate to give this one a feminine martini touch. This HBO hit landed 17 nominations this year, so a lux scotch like Glenfiddich will do the part. We told you the '60s are having a moment.

Recipe:

3/4 of an ounce of Scotch whisky

3/4 of an ounce of gin

2 ounces of pear juice

1/2 teaspoon of agave nectar

1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice

Mix it up, shake well, pour into a martini glass and top it off with a lime wedge.

The American Horror Story Cocktail

FX's American Horror Story is also up for 17 Emmys and trust us, you'll need something strong enough to scare the creepiness out of this one. The solution? A bold and sweet rum. Opt for a flavorful one such as Sailor Jerry, which is 92 proof, and has subtle hints of vanilla and caramel. By now, you won't be able to keep track of who's won what.

Recipe:
1 ounce rum
1 ounce ginger ale

This one's simple. Mix both together and then garnish with a lime wedge. Voila!
