Dunlin, Brooklyn’s Luxe Leather Outpost, Goes Public

Leather and metal may be the foundation of Brooklyn's DNA, from the industrial parks of Canarsie to the biker-inspired looks of Williamsburg. So Dunlin, which we'd imagine to be the bag brand of choice for Daniel Day-Lewis's Bill the Butcher, is tapping into that old school steel-and-hide vibe for their newly revamped South Williamsburg outpost. Part salon and part cabinet of vintage curiosities, visitors can glimpse the serious craftmanship that goes into the well-hewn bags while they shop. From behind the store's steel window frame salvaged from a BK factory, designers Shiho Nagashima and Ramana Goldstein actually design, sew, embellish and perfect their leather goods for all to see. The result: cool heritage pieces, like slouchy saddle bags or studded belts and wallets, all hand-crafted and all New York made.
