Delaplane Strawberry Festival

Looking for something that's not just off the beaten path, but truly a world away from Washington? Head to Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane (roughly an hour's drive from D.C.) for the 19th annual strawberry festival, where you can eat your fill of the juicy summer berries while taking in live music, local crafts, fair food, and plenty of wide open spaces. You'll want an outfit that's equally cute and cool, with a little country charm, so opt for a feminine chambray top and cheery printed denim cutoffs. Classic sunnies, a walkable wedge heel, and a roomy bag to tote your farm-fresh finds are ideal finishing touches.

Great Waves Water Park
Ahh, remember the era when a trip to the water park was literally the height of your summer? Those days aren't so far off, thanks to this splash-tastic oasis tucked inside Cameron Run Regional Park. It's family-friendly (obvi), so expect lots of little tykes, but there's enough going on here to keep you and your grown-up pals entertained — think four-story water slides, a wave pool, mini golf, and batting cages. Since you'll be doing plenty of slipping and sliding, we've chosen a full-coverage bathing suit, plus some adorable add-ons for strolling around the park.
