When you think of the shoe that breaks hearts, makes kingdoms, and sends gaggles of girls into a frenzy, there is but only one heel (and it isn't the Miu Miu glitter pump). Cinderella's slipper not only saved her from the tyranny of her step-mom, but it won her a prince — and proved that patience and kindness trumps selfishness and vanity, every time. So to mark the re-release of the classic Disney film this fall, the man behind the real-world pumps that make girls go gaga has envisioned a modern Cinderella slipper, debuting this Couture Week. We had heard rumblings of the fairy-tale collaboration, but the shoe has now magically appeared.
Christian Louboutin's take on the legendary slipper is a crystal-covered confection, embellished with lace and adorned with two butterflies. The collaboration is total couture (i.e. not available for us who don't have fairy godmothers), but Louboutin promises to give away a couple of pairs. While they come with a trademarked red heel, we have to be frank about our one disappointment: These pretties, sadly, aren't made of glass.
