What Happened To The Osh Kosh Kid? Designer Children’s Boutiques Sell $1,570 Mini Trenches

A slew of stories hit WWD this morning announcing the openings and releases of luxury children's lines… and we're not talking about the $40 pink-mohair sweater your mom deemed too expensive to buy you from Limited Too, once upon a time.
The newly opened Lanvin Petite in NY sells trenchcoats for $1,570, Roger Vivier has a new children's versions of their patent ballerina slippers for $312, and we're assuming the Young Versace store in Florence features pricing that's just as jaw-dropping.
Obviously, the market for clothes this luxurious are a small contingent of super-salaried folk (with some very, very lucky kids), but luxury children's clothing seems to be selling well enough to warrant the opening of so many new stores. But, for pieces that are meant to be outgrown, are designer children's clothes worth it (even if you have the money?).
