UPDATE: We asked, you answered! We collected all the results from the vote on our Facebook page, and now here they are for your perusal. Hint: Anne Hathaway did NOT win.
When it comes to ferocious femmes, Catwoman is pretty much as iconic as they come. While The Cat (a literal cat-woman) appeared in the first-ever issue of DC Comics' Batman all the way back in 1940, Selina Kyle in her modern iteration has been a big-screen staple since Julie Newmar clawed her way into the role (sorry, couldn't help it) in the '60s.
Since then, all sorts of big-name actresses have portrayed her, achieving varying degrees of sexiness, cattiness, and, well, success. From a bodacious Halle Berry to a smirking Michelle Pfeiffer and now, the lady of the moment, Anne Hathaway, the manifestations of this femme fatale — like her feline counterparts — come in all shapes and sizes.
As one of the most iconic female comic heroines out there, this cool cat is sometimes described as "the love of Batman's life" (depending on the version/canon) and the ultimate in complex, moral ambiguity. More than just that, however, the role promises wild action scenes, blockbuster name recognition, obsessive fanboys, and of course, the ultimate badass costume. So, it's no coincidence that the biggest of names flock to play the part, but we can't decide who did it best. And that means we're turning to you. See our picks and then vote for your favorite on our Facebook page – we'll update this post with the results on Friday! Claws out, because it's time to battle it out to claim the Kitty Pride (whoops, wrong comic book).
