These Body Positive Illustrations Will Make Your Day

When we think of body image, it's usually somehow related to weight. Indeed, it plays a significant role in the lives of many women, but the scope of the issue is so much bigger than that. It's bigger than any one person's experience.
That's what makes Carol Rossetti's work so extraordinary. The graphic designer and illustrator has created a gallery of over 80 images, all based on body image and feminist issues. Each illustration features an individual woman, some imagined, and others based on Rossetti's friends. There is Sarah, a trans woman who was shamed in a public toilet; Rebecca, who has self-harm scars from her days battling depression; Poliana, who feels pressured to have surgery on her intersex genitals.
Beneath each image, Rossetti includes a message to the subject — and the viewer — turning each story into one of empowerment. Her ultimate goal with this work, Rossetti says, "is to respect people, regardless of their personal choices, body types, and identities. We all deserve respect and equality."
