Blow Bash: Inside The New Isabella Blow Book Launch

Though the life of Isabella Blow may have ended tragically, no one can argue that she was a wallflower while living it. We think the Philip-Treacy hat-wearing style icon, whose genius "finds" range from Alexander McQueen to Sophie Dahl, would have been quite impressed with the turnout last night at Rockefeller Center's Anthropologie, where chapeaus of every type were as abundant as the brand's mulit-string necklaces. The haute head-gear was only expected, given as the shop was closed for a the US book launch of Blow by Blow , an autobiography of all things Issie, penned by her husband, Detmar Blow with co-writer Tom Sykes. On tap: A reading by Detmar, an Anglo-riffic exhibition filled with iconic images and artifacts from Isabella Blow's life, and Blow fiends like Allison Sarofim, Gretchen Mol, Julia Frakes, Tyler Thoreson, Peter Davis, Anthropologie President Wendy McDevitt, and a brain-turning Anne Koch (peep the pics to see why). After cocktails, Euan Rellie and Lucy Sykes Rellie (sister to Tom), continued the party with dinner at our favorite West Village go-to, Corsino Cantina. Never, ever has there been such energetic co-hosts—the Rellies ushered in a revolving-door of bibliophiles—think Joey Jalleo ("one of the most powerful men in NYC," says Rellie), Bonnie Morrison ("glamorous"), Lynne Yaeger ("legendary"), Hilary Rhoda ("stunning," duh), and Amanda Ross ("stylish"). Before digging into our Sopressata, we listened to Tom's tabletop toast: "Isabella is ultimately the reason we're all here." From what little we gleaned of her from between the pages, we bet she would have been blown away. Sorry, but it needed to be said!
