Though we're year-round, card-carrying members of the Bold-Lip Club, every February 14, we're hesitant to bring out our fuchsias and reds for fear of looking cliché. To us, rose-colored lipstick might be the Valentine's Day equivalent of the ugly sweater: festive, spirited, but totally cheeseball.
Of course, we weren't willing to go completely lipstick-free for the big day. So, we called in makeup pro James Vincent to give editorial assistant Vanessa a Valentine's Day lip look that's more cool than cutesy — and let's just say we're head over heels for the result. See for yourself, above.
