8 Red-Hot Music Events You Can’t Miss This Year

slide1
We dare you to pick out any night of the week when you can’t find live music in Miami. From the guy performing on Lincoln Road to the Arsht Center’s spectacular lineup, this city marches to the beat of its own (very talented) drummer. And while our bars are always bursting with magical sounds, today we’re talking about the big boys. Introducing our list of the top eight music events scheduled to take place in Miami this year. Yeah, we got Coldplay…and quite a few others you’ll love, too. Now, just get ready to dance your ass off.

The Vinyl Collective Pop-Up Record Store
Favorite local DJs (DJ Induce, DJ Mr. Brown) bring out their vinyl collections for this art/shopping/music event scheduled during Second Saturdays. Anyone is welcome to buy, sell, and trade vinyl — or just drink the free booze and listen to the live music.
When: January 14, 6 p.m.
Where: The Workshop Collective, 171 NW 23rd Street.

Virginia Key Grass Roots Festival
New to the scene is this four-day event taking place at The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park boasting four stages and 40-plus bands.
When: February 9-12.
Where: The Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, 4020 Virginia Beach Drive.

Bruise Cruise
This sea-bound festival takes concert-goers on a weekend cruise. But before hitting the water, bands (The Soft Pack, Thee Oh Sees, Quintron & Miss Pussycat) from the festival will perform at local music venue The Stage for some pre-party shenanigans.
When: February 8-9.
Where: The Stage, 170 NE 38 Street.

The B-52s
Oh, don’t pretend like you don’t still have Love Shack on rotation. The '80s pop band visits Miami during its 35th Anniversary Tour.
When: February 12.
Where: Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, 1300 Biscayne Boulevard.

Radiohead
The Oxfordshire group is kicking off its 2012 US Tour in our Magic City. We’ve been holding our breath for tickets ever since the band performed songs from its latest album The King Of Limbs earlier this year on Saturday Night Live.
When:February 27.
Where: American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Boulevard.

Record Store Day
This nationwide celebration of independent record stores started back in 2008 in San Francisco. This year, local stores like Sweat Records, Yesterday and Today Records, and Uncle Sam’s are all signed up to host events that include live performances and special sales.
When:April 21.
Where: Check Record Store Day for participating stores.

Sweatstock
We have indie store Sweat Records to thank for this fairly new annual fest. Although no lineup has been announced yet for 2012, judging from last year’s successful event featuring 36 acts and multiple stages, it’s safe to say this display of local talent is worth noting in your calendar.
When: May 5th.
Where: TBD.

Coldplay
The undeniably huge pop-rock Brit band makes it way to Miami to show off the latest hits from album Mylo Xyloto.
When:June 29.
Where: American Airlines Arena, 601 Biscayne Boulevard.
