I am totally the girl that you hate. Wait, now, hear me out. Hate because I just finished eating a 3-course meal at West Village's Aria including a burrata appetizer, my favorite pesto pasta, and a scrumptious chocolate soufflé for dessert ... and my bright red Revlon lipstick stayed on.
As a self-proclaimed lippy expert, I am all about the bold lip, no matter the circumstance. That means come burger or fries, from morning coffee to afternoon meeting, my bright lip color is sticking with me. How, you ask? I rely on just a few simple steps to keep my lips bright without smearing, cracking, or bleeding. To be the girl everyone wonders, "How does she keep her deep red pout on?" keep reading.

Step 1: Say hello to your new miracle worker: MAC Prep + Prime Lip. This is the secret ingredient. Just like it would with your face makeup, primer keeps your lipstick from feathering and has it staying PUT. I apply it all over my lips and slightly outside the lip line.
MAC Prep + Prime Lip, $19, available at MAC.

Step 2: Pick your color. I'm digging red right now so I went with Revlon Super Lustrous™ Lipstick in Ravish Me Red. I love its moisture shine, and super-bold color. I like to keep things simple, so I apply the lipstick straight to my lips. I don’t normally use a lip brush unless my lipstick is on its last legs.
Revlon Super Lustrous™ Lipstick in Ravish Me Red, $6.99, available at Revlon.

Step 3: We are bound to slip up and color a little bit outside the lines. But, don't worry, you're not doomed to have a clown smile. With a concealer brush, apply concealer or makeup remover around your lip, erasing any stray color as you go. I am using MAC's 195 Concealer Brush.
MAC 195 Concealer Brush, $27.50, available at MAC.

And there you have it. Prep, color, perfect. With these three simple steps, your bold, sassy lipstick will last all day and night.
