Barneys Turns Fashion Icons Into Disney Characters

Holiday window gazing is one of our favorite parts of the Christmas season — there's nothing like sipping a hot cocoa while you stroll from department store to department store, taking in all the tinseled goodness. Just once, though, wouldn't it be nice to garner that warm, fuzzy feeling while staying, you know, warm? Barneys is unveiling its holiday masterpiece tonight at its flagship Madison Avenue boutique, but if you're too cozy on the couch, we've got you covered with a sneak peek.
For this year's iteration, the storied Madison Avenue shop teamed up with another storied institution: Disney. You heard that right. The two collaborated on an animated short film entitled Electric Holiday, which will be played on a continuos loop on the store's facade. The piece stars a (somewhat controversially) dolled-up Minnie Mouse, who does some window shopping of her own, and lusts after some breathtaking designer pieces, in particular, a red Lanvin dress that we want, too. Suddenly, she's lost in a style-heavy daydream which takes her, obviously, to Paris Fashion Week. Ooh la la! During her fantasy trip, she meets the animated versions of some of fashion's biggest stars — Cathy Horyn, Carine Roitfeld, and Sarah Jessica Parker, to name a few.
While the fashion-ized versions of the classic Disney characters have been the main attraction in the press leading up to the reveal, we can't get over how incredibly cute the Disney-fied fashion darlings are — just try to look at the cartoon Alber Elbaz without cracking a smile. Plus, who could resist Goofy strutting down the runway in Balmain, or Cruella de Vil rocking Rick Owens. Click through to see stills of our favorite animated divas (and divos!), and tell us who should get their own movie!
