Get Inspired Right At The Source With A Painting Party In A Museum

artjamslide
Ever wish you could go back to the days when art was a required class, and field trips meant spending the day at a museum? Well, you can time travel for a night next week, when the American Art Museum hosts their Take 5! concert series with an ArtJamz pop-up session.
Kick back in the Kogod Courtyard for a bit of live jazz and, if you’re ready to unleash your inner Picasso, create a masterpiece all your own. While the event is free and open to the public, a $40 ticket will get you a canvas, easel, and paints (plus 20% off food and drinks at the courtyard cafe) — and you can take your work home with you. Feeling that rush of inspiration? Register for the event online here; if you miss next week's, you can catch another one each month through August. Just don't forget to wear your swankiest coveralls.
When: Thursday, April 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Where: Smithsonian American Art Museum, 750 F Street NW; 202-709-8078.
