A Whirlwind Of Prints: Come Inside Antoni & Alison’s East London Shop

Cult British label Antoni & Alison, holds a special place in our heart. The design duo (comprised of Antoni Burakowski and Alison Roberts) first rose to fame with their T-shirt collection. And impressively enough, 25 years later, their designs still reflect the elegant simplicity of those first humble tees.
Never a label to be confined by expectations, the duo decided not to stage a show at London Fashion Week but rather host a No Show AW'13 presentation at their Farringdon store. The collection's focus is the signature "pieces of paper" dress; a slim column dress made of silk, featuring a print made from photographs the designers took of scraps of materials and household objects they have collected over the years. (Seriously, there might be a brillo pad in the mix.) The effect is almost sculptural in a two-dimensional way, or as the designers themselves call it, "flat couture."
But, there's more here than just prints. The store also boasts a tea room on the first floor with the tongue-in-cheek name, Ye Old Worlde Super Modern Tearoom. It's open on Friday and Saturday for a "No Choice" Choice menu consisting of tea, coffee, a slice of cake, or a "super modern" biscuit. Click through to see the kaleidescopic prints of the spring collection, and make a date to pop by for tea. We promise you're in for a treat.
