Anastasia Marano, Freelance Fashion Stylist
This New York native (like one or two other savvy and stylish women we know) cites Carmen Dell'Orefice as inspiration. The difference is that Anastasia has actually worked with her. Marano has put her signature on images for magazines like Spin and Harper’s Bazaar, collaborating with some of the most gifted photographers and high-profile figures in the world to create a veritable scrapbook of our culture.

What skill or habit do you think is vital for success?“Organization. Is being OCD a habit?” (Um, yes: definitely a habit. And, if we can call it a “skill,” our self-esteem just went way up.)

What’s your favorite thing to wear to work?
“Anything stylish and comfortable! Comfort is a must! People don’t realize how active this job is.”
What moments on the job do you find most rewarding?
“I love creating an iconic moment — an image that will be remembered. I’ve mostly had this happen when working with musicians and seeing our collaborative vision come to life.”

Hands down, best professional advice you ever got:
“Be nice and treat everyone equally. You never know — that intern might be your boss one day!”
Who’s your working girl inspiration?
“It’s hard to pick just one, but Carmen Dell’Orefice is extremely inspiring! She has modeled for all the great photographers and continues to work today. She has stories about how, ‘back in the day,’ she did her own hair, makeup, and styling. When I styled her she ran out on set with a camera and started photographing the photographer! Amazing!”
