The Face Oil For People Who Are Afraid Of Face Oils

As someone who suffered from pretty severe acne in her teenage years, you can bet I was told to avoid oils at any cost — lest they contribute more oil to my already slippery visage. So when I entered the beauty world and started hearing about the power of oils (yes, even for my skin type), I was curious, but suspicious. The "oil-free" mantra was so ingrained in my head that I passed up nearly every opportunity to try one. And when I finally did, I wasn't that impressed. I figured that oils just weren't my thing — until Trilogy's Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ landed on my desk. I'll be completely honest: I don't know what it is about this particular oil that meshes so well with my complexion. Perhaps it's the combination of rosehip, tomato, and cranberry seed oils mixed with soothing oat kernel extract that makes my skin happy. Rosehip seed oil is known for its scar-fading qualities — which, after having popped my fair share of pimples, is definitely an ingredient I'm more than happy to slather all over my face. Cranberry and tomato seed oils, on the other hand, are rich in antioxidants, which help repair and protect the skin from UV and free radical damage. But the best part is the way it feels. The product is an absolute luxury to rub onto my face — it's lightweight, silky, and hydrates without leaving my skin feeling like an oil slick. (And the slightly herbal scent is pleasant, not overpowering.) Sometimes, I even give myself a mini face massage with it before hopping into bed. I've been smoothing on a few drops of this oil every night after applying my usual prescription Retin-A (another holy grail skin product I've been using for four years). Since then, I've experienced zero dry patches, more even tone, and little to no acne. While much of that can be attributed to the Retin-A, I've found the oil to be the perfect complement — especially given how drying and irritating retinols can be. I'm already halfway through the bottle and I'm dreading the day I reach the last drop. If you still think oils aren't for you, I dare you to try this one — it might just change your mind.
