Where We Left Off In Schitt’s Creek Season 5’s Deliriously Joyous Finale

Any good TV show will make you feel like your a part of the on-screen family, and the Rose family makes us wish we really could be adopted by disgraced former billionaires. Schitt’s Creek is back for its sixth and final season and while we’re so excited to see Johnny, Moira, David, and Alexis one last time, it’s going to be brutal saying goodbye to them. It really will be like saying goodbye to cherished family members!

Over the last five years, we’ve watched the Roses grow and change in ways we honestly didn’t think was possible for them. The series began with a situation that seemed like the end for them. Back then, they were dealing with the loss of the family fortune — except for a town they had bought as a joke called Schitt’s Creek. None of them could have predicted what would happen next: They flourished under their new circumstances and slowly became their best selves. And also a little bit Alexis.

We doubt you missed season 5, but just to make sure your memory is perfectly refreshed, here's a little reminder of what went down before the season ended. We know not everyone has the time to re-binge the entire series on Netflix before the premiere on Pop TV.

What Happened To Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) In Season 5?

During season 5, Johnny just kinda bumbles along like any doting father, doing what he does best: Asking dad questions and keeping his wife from freaking out. Johnny also had a bad case of heartburn that everyone else mistook for a heart attack, but he’s okay! He’s also the last to accidentally learn about David’s engagement. Typical.

Levy's Resume
Before Levy was playing this dad, you might have seen him play another dad, Noah Levenstein, in all the American Pie movies. He’s also a frequent collaborator with Christopher Guest, starring in Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and For Your Consideration

What Happened To Moira Rose (Catherine O'Hara) In Season 5?

Season 5 revolves around Moira trying to get a production of Cabaret off the ground, and just hearing that should send you into fits of laughter. When the lead actress Stevie (Emily Hampshire) disappears before the show, Moira almost goes on for her. But Stevie shows up, and Moira's leading lady moment still awaits, as her movie Crows is slated to open in the fall. That is, until Moira gets the news that it’s been shelved. Season 5 ends with Moira locking herself in a closet to cry, surrounded by her shoes, which is highly relatable.

O'Hara's Resume
O’Hara is an icon, but many know her as the mother in Home Alone, in which she’s the one to yell “KEVIN!” Additionally, she was the artsy step-mother to Christina Ricci's Lydia in Beetlejuice, voiced Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas, and is a frequent collaborator of Christopher Guest's, known for roles in Best of Show and A Mighty Wind. She also starred on Canada’s version of SNL, SCTV

What Happened To David Rose (Daniel Levy) In Season 5?

In the second-to-last episode of season 5, David's boyfriend Patrick (Noah Reid) proposes and he accepts! He and Patrick make the decision not to tell everyone else until after Moira’s Cabaret... except that David then tells his bestie Stevie. And then he tells Moira and Roland (Chris Elliott). Then Alexis (Annie Murphy) overhears and suddenly, everyone has been spoiled. In the category of non-romantic plot advancements, David and Patrick continue to keep their store, Rose Apothecary, afloat and have even added a bathroom to the store.

Levy's Resume
Levy worked at MTV Canada for a long time, hosting different shows, red carpets, and live events. But it’s his work on Schitt’s Creek that really put him on the map, and landed him an overall deal with ABC to keep creating more projects. And yes, Eugene Levy is his dad.

What Happened To Alexis Rose (Annie Murphy) In Season 5?

For one of the first times ever, Alexis makes the decision to do something for someone else, and makes the bold decision to follow her boyfriend Ted (Dustin Milligan) to the Galapagos Islands for work. However, it’s at that same time Moira asks Alexis to run all her publicity, which is the first true sign of motherly respect and approval and not something Alexis necessarily wants to turn down — but she does for love.

Murphy's Resume
Murphy has appeared in a string of different Canadian series, like Rookie Blue and Good God. When she’s not working on Schitt’s Creek she’s an ambassador for CARE Canada.

What Happened To Stevie Budd (Emily Hampshire) In Season 5?

Stevie has some ups and downs during season 5, but manages to end on a high note, literally. After a relationship fails and she feels like she’ll be stuck behind the desk at the Rosebud Motel forever, Moira casts her in the lead for Cabaret. She also cements herself as one of the best friends ever, gifting David some monogrammed towels after she hears he’s engaged — because she won’t be able to give him towels at the motel anymore! Such a gesture.

Hampshire's Resume
Before starring on Schitt's Creek, Hampshire played Jennifer on 12 Monkeys and made her original acting debut way back when on Are You Afraid of the Dark? As for movies, she recently appeared in Mother! playing one of the fools.

What Happened To Jocelyn Schitt (Jenn Robertson) In Season 5?

Jocelyn begins season 5 as a new mom, whose patience has been severely shortened by a lack of sleep. Still, she starts off working as the lead director on Cabaret, but it quickly becomes clear that Moira is actually the right choice to lead the production. She's still got her odd haircut from that trip to the cancelled Poison concert, by the way.

Robertson's Resume
Robertson has one of Canada’s most prestigious shows on her acting resume, Degrassi: The Next Generation, where she played Cece Goldsworthy. She also wrote and starred in Canada’s sketch-comedy show Comedy Inc., for seven seasons and has also appeared on Howie Mande’s practical joke show and Hannah Montana

What Happened To Roland Schitt (Chris Elliott) In Season 5?

He's a new parent, alongside Jocelyn, but for the most part, Roland is still being Roland in season 5. He's just doing everything Roland does best, which is popping up at inopportune moments, messing things up, being an accidental menace, and talking about how he's been electrocuted. You know, typical stuff.

Elliott's Resume
Elliot got his start playing various roles on Late Night with David Letterman and starred in the 1994-1995 season of Saturday Night Live. He also appeared in ‘90s classics like Groundhogs Day and There’s Something About Mary

What Happened To Ted Mullens (Dustin Milligan) In Season 5?

Unbeknownst to Alexis, Tex applies — and is accepted — into the Charles Darwin Research Center fellowship in the Galapagos Islands. He wrestles back and forth with going and ultimately decides not to because that means he and Alexis would have to do long distance.

Milligan's Resume
Mulligan played Ethan on the first 90210 reboot (that lasted one season) and also recently appeared on Silicon Valley and in A Simple Favor.

What Happened To Twyla Sands (Sarah Levy) In Season 5?

Maybe season 6 will give Twyla something big and bold to do, but season 5 still has her in the comfortable spot of Alexis’ go-to girl for all her problems. She’s still very much working at the Café Tropical with way too much sunny optimism.

Levy's Resume
Levy’s biggest role to date is playing Twyla on Schitt’s Creek, but she’s also appeared in Cheaper By The Dozen 2 and Larry Crowne

What Happened To Patrick Brewer (Noah Reid) In Season 5?

After coming out to his parents on his birthday (after a huge mix-up involving Johnny accidentally outing him), Patrick makes the big leap and proposes to David. Yes, while you’re already probably crying at that, Patrick proposed with gold rings to mirror the silver ones David always wears. That's TRUE LOVE, YOU GUYS.

Reid's Resume
Brewer most recently played the titular Kevin in Kevin from Work, and has voiced numerous on Pippi Longstocking, Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series, and Rolie Polie Olie. If you’re wondering if he can in fact sing, the answer is yes, because he starred in 2010’s Score: A Hockey Musical
