We Tried Kylie & Khloe's New Makeup Collection — & Here's What We Think

Welcome to Unfiltered, where we give our honest, no-B.S. reviews of the most buzzed-about beauty products, brands, and services on the market right now.

When the Kardashian/Jenners aren't applying for trademarks for their impending product lines, they're busy releasing them. In the past few months alone, Kim announced both bridal and body collections, Kylie debuted a full-fledged skin-care line, Kourtney hawked natural goods through Poosh, and even Kendall sparked rumors of her own beauty empire. And today, Khloe and Kylie are rolling out yet another collection: Koko By Kylie Cosmetics, which launches at 6 p.m. Eastern.

For their third makeup drop together, Kylie and Khloe designed a brand-new eye shadow palette with 9-pans of neutral and rose-gold tones. They're also releasing two new shades of Kylie's famous lipsticks, along with a lip liner and a new highlighter. While the shade names are definitely questionable, from an "Allergic to Bullsh*t" lipstick to "Handbag Ho" liner, fans seem to be excited about the rose-gold colors.

With all the buzz around the collection, we asked four Refinery29 staffers to take them for a spin. They share their unfiltered opinions, ahead.

Koko By Kylie Cosmetics Koko Palette

"This is a great beginner's palette. The shades are buildable, so it's not packing on too much pigment, and you can easily control your application. It has the basic neutrals that you need, plus a pop of color (yellow) and glitter for when you're feeling extra. I used the light coral shade "True Luv" all over my lid, then applied one layer of the metallic burgundy shade "Dreams Come True" on top. One thing to note is that the metallics are definitely more subtle than they seem, so if you're expecting a potent glitter party, this might not be for you. Overall, I loved how it looked, but I loved the fact that there was zero fallout even more." — Thatiana Diaz, beauty writer

Koko By Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Allergic to Bullsh*t and Lip Liner in Handbag Ho

"When I swatched the liquid lipstick color, I knew wearing it would be a challenge. It was a pale iteration of my natural skin tone which, when worn on my lips, makes me look like a corpse. Luckily, there was a brown lip liner that I was able to use before applying the lipstick. The liner is a great neutral shade that can be paired with just about any nude color — especially with brown skin. However, even when paired with the super-pale lipstick, it still managed to make me look faint. If the lipstick color works on your complexion, then go for it, but I will be passing."— Aimee Simeon, beauty writer

Koko By Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in The Bigger The Hoops

"I thought I was going to love this lipstick. I adore a matte liquid lip and I was encouraged by the shade: a pink that borders on dusty rose more than Barbie. But while swiping it on felt smooth, after about 30 minutes, I felt like my lips had dried out completely. After a full hour, it even started to feel tacky. While the shade is lovely and could be a great nude for some, the formula itself leaves much to be desired." — Rachel Lubitz, senior writer

Koko By Kylie Cosmetics Highlighter in True Mama

"Wearing shimmery highlighter isn't usually part of my daily makeup routine. However, in the event that I need to define my cheekbones, I now know that this pearly rose highlighter doesn't mess around. The stuff is pretty pigmented, so I personally found that a light dusting looked more natural than a heavy-handed application. Well... as natural as strobed cheekbones can be." — Karina Hoshikawa, beauty & wellness market writer
