Alexa Chung Talks Us Through Her Favourite Next In Fashion Looks

If, like us, you can't get enough of fashion shows (Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, Running in Heels, The Hills...you get the picture), then we'll hazard a guess that you spent last weekend bingeing Next in Fashion, Netflix's latest (and addictive) foray into the world of competitive reality TV.
Starring hosts Queer Eye's Tan France and our favourite model-turned-creative-director Alexa Chung, Next in Fashion brings together 18 of the most thrilling designers that you've never heard of – creatives who have worked for household names like Alexander Wang and Stella McCartney but who have yet to claim the spotlight themselves.

The show has stellar credentials, too. The winner will receive £192,000 from Net-A-Porter plus the chance to have their debut collection stocked at the luxury e-tailer, while guest judges include Eva Chen, Prabal Gurung, Tommy Hilfiger, Kerby Jean-Raymond, Adriana Lima, Net-A-Porter’s Elizabeth von der Goltz, and stylist Elizabeth Stewart.
We won't spoil the show's highs and lows for you but one thing you can expect from Next in Fashion is to fall in love with each and every one of Alexa's outfits. There's a rolodex of get-ups to swoon over and, boy, are we glad she's back on our screens.

"I love the white ALEXACHUNG suit I wore in the tailoring episode. This was from a previous collection but I was referencing Bianca Jagger when I made it and whenever I wear it I feel like I’m strolling through an airport in the '70s."

"There’s a Simone Rocha pink sequin dress that I wear with red Mary Janes in the last or second to last episode and it was by far my favourite thing I wore on the show and they show it for, like, four seconds haha. We filmed all day and that’s all that made it in but ho hum."

"The finale Richard Quinn dress felt very special to wear. I wanted something that was noisy and elegant but also somehow witty and I think this fit the bill. When anyone asked me who it was by I was shouting, 'The actual queen went to his show!!'"

"The Christopher Kane Rubberist dress was really funny. I love Netflix because they asked what a rubberist was and I said not sure but potentially a kinky sex thing and they were like, 'Okay, cool'."

"The sports episode was hard for me to get dressed for because athleisure just really isn’t in my sartorial vernacular. I ended up just pairing my vintage jeans with a track top we made at ALEXACHUNG and actually it looks quite nice and understated."

"I found the Gianni Versace blue skirt in a vintage shop in LA and Danielle, who was helping me pull for the show, managed to secure it for me. We wanted to complete the classic '90s campaign look so scouted around for a mohair cropped cardigan or two. It’s Cher from Clueless vibes."

"I love the Alessandra Rich outfit I wore for the military challenge. I was very hungover, having taken a 5am flight straight from the Met Gala afterparty directly to set in LA, and hadn’t slept for a couple of days. That outfit has power attached to it so my withered, depleted vibe wasn’t noticeable (I hope!)."
