Alexander McQueen Starts Donating Fabric
Alexander McQueen has just announced that under the education programme launched by creative director Sarah Burton, the brand's surplus fabrics will find a new home with students at fashion colleges around the country. "The ethos at Alexander McQueen means that everything we use in researching and designing collections has always been archived and stored," she notes. "We’ve never thrown anything away." This reduction of waste – how thrilling that the beautiful fabrics will live on in future design! – is the ethos the fashion industry needs to adopt in order to take responsibility for its part in the climate crisis. Hooray for progress!

Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk Opens at the V&A
The V&A's next blockbuster fashion exhibition opens on Saturday and boy, are we thrilled. The museum has built a reputation for knockout retrospectives but this time presents something a little different: the kimono. Looking at how the icon of Japanese dress has evolved from traditional attire to become globally appropriated everywhere from street style to music videos, it's set to be a unique deep dive into one of the most culturally significant pieces in fashion history.
