3 Things To Pack On Your Next Beach Vacay

If you’re headed South soon (take us with you!) or are just ready for winter-coat weather to be over already, you’ll want to know that there are lots of great beach essentials on deep discount this week as retailers take additional markdowns on any remaining spring and summer merchandise.

What to pack? Start with a pretty dress, ideally in a tropical-bright print and lightweight, breathable fabric such as cotton, that you can just throw on. A swimsuit and a bikini or two that you feel great in are another must if you’re going anywhere waterfront or with a pool (a hotel one counts!). They hardly take up any luggage space, and having multiple sets means you won’t have to worry about waiting for swimwear to dry in between trips to the water. Oh, and a pretty swim cover-up or robe that you can wear poolside is a good add-on, especially if it offers additional sun protection.

Here are the stylish, resort-ready picks you’ll want to wear next summer, too.

The Striped Dress

Keep cool in this breezy dress by Montreal-designer Mélissa Nepton. Made in Canada, it features pretty ruffles and a cut-out shoulder detail. Wear it to lunch or out on the town, or over your swimwear when you’re headed to the beach or pool.

P.S. Prefer something in crisp white cotton? There are still two of this billowy, made-in-LA Tigre et Tigre dresses available on sale at Canadian e-comm site New Classics.

The Tie-Dyed Skirt

Love your leopard-print midi, but looking for something new for 2020? Try on this ankle-length skirt in a versatile navy tie-dye print. It’s made in a stretch charmeuse polyester-blend fabric, which will be easier to take care of and wear than silk. (For those still wary of the tie-dye trend, it comes in a pale pink colourway.)

Trust us, this skirt will look as good with heels and an embellished top as with a T-shirt and sneakers, making it a versatile item to pack when you don’t want to pay for checked luggage.

The Rash Guard

There’s heaps of great swimwear on sale right now at sites like Anthropologie and Net-a-Porter. But if you’re looking for a swim cover-up that offers additional sun-protection (because necessary), don’t miss out on J.Crew’s sale-on-sale selections. (Until December 19, the code Shop30 offers an additional 30% off.)

This classic striped rash guard, which offers UPF 50 sun protection, performs and looks good both in and out of the water and is still available in sizes XX-Small to XX-Large.
