The Next Hunger Games: 6 Dystopian YA Novels To Read

Tonight, loyal fanboys and fangirls will brave the cold to catch the final installment of The Hunger Games movie — or at least the first half of it. (In 2014, Hollywood has been decreed that all trilogies have four parts.) The districts will rebel, arrows will shoot down airplanes, Peeta will continue to be a more alluring boyfriend than Gale…and then it will be over, at least for many months.
But, in the meantime, there’s no reason to despair. The Hunger Games is a great bit of dystopic teen fiction, but it’s by no means the only bit of dystopic teen fiction. To help tide you over, we rounded up a bunch of authors who write young adult fiction and asked for their recommendations, and the results are in.
There are new books, old books, books that take place in high-flung fantasy worlds and those that happen here on Earth. All fit the nebulous marketing category that we call YA and all are very worth reading.
