Your Horoscope For This Week — Feb 02 2014

Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
Hang on to your hipster fedora, Aquarius. This week you could make up and break up (then make up again) with people at record speed. Monday’s unpredictable alignment of the moon and your cosmic ruler Uranus make it a little too easy to go on that unfriending spree — a move you’ll regret in some cases. On Thursday, Mercury turns retrograde for three weeks and spends sometime in your twelfth house of healing and forgiveness. Extend the olive branch to people you’ve slighted but bolt the door shut on that bad romance.
Pisces (February 20-March 20)
Open mouth, insert court shoe? Communicator Mercury slides into retrograde from February 6-28, and for the first six days, it will backstroke through Pisces. Translation: Your words are ever-so-susceptible to misinterpretation now. Don’t leave anything up to chance. Take down those questionable selfies, swear off Snapchat for the month, and don’t put anything that’s not fit for a general audience into an email. Your fuse is shorter, too, until February 12. Better to go to your separate corners than try to hash out a conflict before then.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
Like signmate Lady Gaga, you live for the “applause, applause,” but if you want those accolades, you need to show the world that you’re more than just a flash in the pan. Make your splash early this week, then, duck out of the limelight. On Thursday, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves, Ram, and do some behind-the-scenes work. With Mercury turning retrograde from February 6-28, put your launch on hold and review, revise, and refine. You only get one chance to make a first impression after all — and it looks like early March will be a better time to bring it.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Let go so that you can grow. Monday may bring a harsh wakeup call, one that clears away any illusion (or delusion) you may have bought into about a situation. This is not one that you can fix, Taurus. The other person has to do the heavy lifting, too. Put that relationship on the back burner for a while and reconnect to your peeps from the past. With Mercury turning retrograde from February 6-28, it’s officially reunion time. Get the gang — or the band — back together, Bull.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Got any bold professional moves up your sleeve? Make your mark early in the week while the element of surprise is working in your favor. After Thursday, you’ll have to follow the rules. Mercury will turn retrograde from February 6-28, and until the 12th, it will backslide through your career house. Tension with a boss or client could erupt, and you might have some communication breakdowns, too. Retrogrades are great times for reconnection though. Surf around LinkedIn — an old colleague could be the perfect collaborator for a new project or may help you get your foot in the door for an exciting opportunity.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
There are always three sides to every story: yours, theirs, and the truth. This week, try to consider other perspectives especially after Thursday when expressive Mercury turns retrograde for three weeks. This backspin could make you a wee-bit tactless, Cancer. You could wind up putting your foot in your mouth or hurting people with your well-intended (but unsolicited) advice. Think before you speak so your messages don’t get lost in translation. On a positive note, this is a great time to revisit a place that holds sentimental value in your heart. Reunite with an old friend — or even a love interest you met while traveling — for this journey.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Looks like the Olympic contenders aren’t the only ones carrying a torch this week, Leo. On Thursday, Mercury turns retrograde in your eighth house of intimacy and seduction. You might even get a surprise text (or sext) from somebody that you used to know. That fire that was lit so long ago could blaze up in you, too. But, if you find yourself pining for “the one that got away,” make sure you aren’t idealizing the past. Talk it through with friends before you open the door to what might turn into an unhealthy obsession. Practicing willpower and diving into a cathartic creative project would be a better challenge to take on.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Signed, sealed, delivered: Make sure your agreements are rock solid before Thursday when your ruling planet Mercury turns retrograde until the 28. This planetary backspin could bring some communication meltdowns with your partners-in-crime, both professionally and romantically. You might discover that you’re not on the same page, but it will take a lot longer than you hope to find a win-win compromise. Be patient and keep your cool. Heads up: You could hear from an ex or even feel like reaching out to one yourself. Proceed with caution if planning any such reunions.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Your relationship status could change suddenly near Monday — perhaps from “Single” to “It’s Complicated.” The truth is, you’d like a little more certainty but might be afraid to ruin a good thing by asking. Libra, better you should know now what someone’s intentions are, so you can plan your moves accordingly. If they just aren’t ready to settle down, you may be laying your pearls before swine. Then again, your gentle prompting could lead to a long overdue exclusivity clause. Work demands more accountability after Thursday, when Mercury turns retrograde for three weeks. No cutting corners — you could get busted if you don’t bring your best.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Early this week, a female friend or relative could have surprising news. Try not to let your jaw hit the ground or apply your lifestyle choices to her situation. She might shock you a bit, but she needs your unwavering support. On Thursday, messenger Mercury slips into retrograde until the 28th and could even bring an old flame back into your life. Was it merely a matter of bad timing that kept you apart? If so, explore, with a proper amount of hesitation. Don’t go looking for trouble though. There are some people who simply can’t handle, “just being friends,” especially if the animal attraction (the one that hit you like a wrecking ball) is too strong.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Home should feel like a haven, uh, right, Sagittarius? There may be friction with relatives or roomies ahead, as Mercury turns retrograde from Thursday until February 28. Do your part to minimize this early in the week. Feng Shui away the bad chi (you might download a bagua map for help with this), organize stressful clutter, and have honest talks about house rules with the people living under your roof. One woman in particular could work your nerves. Be direct about your desire for more cooperation. On a positive note, Mercury’s backspin can help restore healthier eating habits.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Got a deal to seal? Put it in writing and get it signed by Wednesday. On Thursday, Mercury turns retrograde in your third house of partnerships, and you’ll want those creative collabos locked and loaded before then. Then, get ready for some serious blasts from the past. Mercury will drive in reverse until February 28, but the first six days could bring a fleet of old friends back into your world. Make sure your car or bike is in good, working order this week, too, as retrograde Mercury can cause trouble with transportation. Don’t stall on the oil change or tune-up, or ignore that mysterious rattling noise. Leave early for appointments, too, as you might have to reroute or deal with annoying traffic jams.
