Easy Makeup Tricks To Perfect Your Look

Putting on your makeup every day seems easy enough, but most of us fall into ruts that lack that extra something special. Is there anything that could amp that look up with just the right finishing touch? Maybe, but many of us are too busy with basic living to think about a special cosmetics trick that can kick our sexy into overdrive.
Luckily, it's our job to do just that. We found some easy suggestions by calling on celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow, supplying her with some in-house face charts, and letting her loose with the directive to create four everyday looks. And boy did she deliver.

The Look: Bold Lips With Bold Brows

"One of the easiest looks to achieve is to balance bold lips with a strong brow," advises Turnbow. "Be sure to really emphasize your brows by tapping in a brow powder (or using a brow pencil) that will give them really strong definition."

For the lip, Tina applied NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl with her finger. "I suggest tapping the lip color with your fingertip so you get a stain of color rather than full-on pigment. It's still a strong lip, but it's not overpowering."

The Finishing Touch: Two-Tone Lips

The way to amplify this simple-yet-effective look? Layer another deep scarlet or plum lip color over the existing red stain (Turnbow used another favorite, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned,) this time applying the product directly without using your finger to give your lips a powerful rich look. "Layering the two colors creates depth and a custom shade that will make them look twice," says Turnbow. Sculpt your cheeks with a nude blush or sculpting powder to keep the focus on your gorgeous pout.

The Look: Warm Nudes

The second option is an easy look with nudes that warm the skin. "Adding a honey nude or caramel eyeshadow with a brown liner across the top lashline really brings warmth to the eyes, and a lid layered in these colors amps up your daytime makeup appeal," advises Turnbow. "Be sure to use soft, romantic nudes, no shimmer, and focus mascara on the outer corners of the lashes so they look flirty." She added a light berry-toned lip for polish and balance.

The Finishing Touch: A Bold Cat-Eye

The best way to finish a nude look is to take it to the next level with a defined cat-eye liner. "Going for a bold, angled line really kicks up the look," says Turnbow. She advises retracing the existing brown pencil-liner line with long-lasting black liquid liner like Lancome Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner to get the look. "Just extend the black cat-eye a bit outward, beyond the far corner of the eye for impact. Add more mascara, and the look is done."

The Look: Brushed Brow, Berry Lip

Turnbow's a big fan of working with what you've got, so she advises if you're short on time, simply brush your brows and go for a berry-stained lip with impact. "Quickly line your lips with a complementary shade to your lip color, then go for a gorgeous berry color, like Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint in Moody. It's perfect for all skin tones."

The Finishing Touch: Taupe Eyeshadow and Long Lashes

Since your lips are already center stage, Turnbow advises giving your eyes just a touch of definition with a nude shadow and defined, long lashes. "The nude shadow really helps warm up the eye, and the lashes add a framework that's sexy and romantic," advises Turnbow. "For blush, just tap your fingers onto your lip color and then blend the hue into your cheeks for a complementary (and fast) cheek. Add more berry lipstick to complete the look."

The Look: Easy '70s Chic

Turnbow turns to the '70s when it comes to creating easy glamour in a hurry. "I love the look of a violet eye, especially when you can do it with a great liner. Just apply Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Vice along the outer corners of the upper eye and along the bottom waterline, then blink a few times to get it to smudge naturally. Finish the look by blending it upwards toward the crease using a soft eyeshadow brush and it will set into a cool, smoky effect." A glossy pink lip finishes the look.

The Finishing Touch: Navy Liner and Lots of Lashes

Turnbow added Kevyn Aucoin The Eye Pencil Primatif in Defining Navy along the waterline of the eye and inside the lashline of the upper lid to really make the violet pop. "It's got a '70s glam appeal, and it's just so gorgeous and easy," says Turnbow. She also suggests using navy mascara to really give this inky eye depth and power. "More nude gloss on the lips and you're good to go."
