As Seen On The Street: “Ugly”-Yet-Awesome Flatforms

The flatform is without a doubt a member of the ugly-shoe family. Its cousins are the fancy shower shoe, the mule, and the Birkenstock sandal (twice removed). While its "ugliest" trait is the severe heavy bottom, we'll argue that the somewhat-clunky shape is actually the perfect complement to an array of looks. Try elongating your legs with a chunky sneaker and loose-fit shorts, or contrast a flowy, ethereal maxi-dress with a sole that keeps you grounded. Hey, there's enough room in this town for the stiletto, too, but we'd much rather walk around in a pair that'll never get caught in the cobblestones.
