Christopher Kane Trips The Light Fantastic For SS'14

The Christopher Kane SS'14 show was a little like meeting a dear friend who just went for a fabulous new 'do — so much of the collection felt familiar and connected to the brand's DNA, with an exciting new twist or two. The PVC inserts in silver and holographic and teardrop forms on cocktail dresses were reminiscent of those multi-coloured PVC collars and cuffs from FW'11, while the concertina pleats on chiffon dresses took us back to the gingham, pleated mini dresses from the SS'10 collection.
Completely new pieces included fluffy, iridescent tops and pencil skirts (they looked as if they were made of candy-floss), and sharp-looking, laser-cut flora and fauna motifs on satin tops and skirts. By the way — we spotted BFC ambassador Samantha Cameron sitting front row and smiling throughout the show, which leads us to wonder which dress we'll see outside No.10 in spring. We'll just have to wait and see.
