Can't decide what to do with your out-of-town guests? Maybe you're trying to shake up your workweek? Well, luckily, we've done all the hard work for you and found five amazing events going on in Lala this coming week. Whether you're an avid shopper or a music connoisseur, you know R29's got you covered.
Explore A Famous Venice Street
Abbot Kinney definitely tops our list of favorite shopping destinations in L.A. And, we know we're not alone: The Retail Design Institute is hosting an exploration of this famous Venice drag's retail scene this Wednesday. Meet with the group over a glass of pinot at Zinque wine bar, then mingle with the other participants over drinks at Deus Ex Machina at the end. That blouse you couldn't resist snatching up? $80. The chance to meet and network with fellow Kinney lovers? Priceless.
When: Wednesday, June 19, 3-7 p.m.
Where: Zinque, 600 Venice Boulevard (near Abbot Kinney Boulevard); 310-437-0970.
A Music Crawl To Delight The Ears
A grassroots movement aiming to establish a music scene on the Westside, the Venice Music Crawl will feature Caught A Ghost, The Get Down Boys, Fox Hollow, Gina Calderoni, and many more participating artists in a slew of venues along Lincoln Boulevard. Why go to a solo concert when you can pop into over 20 different ones in one night? Multi-taskers, this one's calling your name!
When: Saturday, June 22, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Variety of locations in Venice
Our Favorite Country/Pop Duo Hits The Stage
We love her quirky character on New Girl and adore her red-carpet outfits, so there's no doubt that Zooey Deschanel stuns onstage, as well. She'll be teaming up with M. Ward, the other half of She & Him, for a concert next weekend at the Hollywood Bowl as part of KCRW's World Festival series. Also on tap that night: Grammy winners Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell, and Matthew E. White — yeah, there's no way we'll miss this one.
When: Sunday, June 23, 7 p.m.
Where: The Hollywood Bowl, 2301 North Highland Avenue (near Camrose Drive); 323-850-2000.
Taco Lovers Rejoice! This Festival Was Made For You
If you're a serious Mexican food lover, we think we found your heaven: Tacolandia. Hosted by LA Weekly, this festival next weekend will feature tacos from over 30 restaurants in L.A., Orange County, and even Baja. Mariachis and a tequila garden also ensure that you'll get into the South of the Border spirit. We'll be having a light breakfast to save room for all the Mexican deliciousness!
When: Sunday, June 23, noon
Where: The Hollywood Palladium parking lot, 6215 West Sunset Boulevard (near Vine Street); no phone.
Get Crafty At This Etsy Party
If you're the type that would rather scrapbook your latest vacation than idly watch TV, you won't want to miss the Etsy Craft Party on Friday. In addition to crafts galore, there will be DIYs, live demonstrations, a pottery wheel, giveaways, raffles, a nail bar, wine and craft beer, food trucks, and live music with The Silver Kings. Phew! Sounds like a lot to pack into three hours, but we'll gladly accept the challenge.
When: Friday, June 21, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Crafted at The Port of Los Angeles, 110 East 22nd Street (near Miner Street); 310-732-1270.
