This Week's 5 Hot Happenings Worth Braving the Chill For!

While the recent temperature drop has caused some to hibernate or plan early spring break trips to warmer locales, we’ve put together a list of local shindigs totally worth braving the sub-60-degree weather for!
As if we could go a week without forgetting how lucky we are to be living in such a hotbed of creative mojo, these five events have got us feeling the local love. From a Dogpatch Microhood extravaganza to an art opening from two local ladies, we're ready to take to the streets!
3rd Base: A Dogpatch Microhood
Our friends at The Bold Italic are back and teaming up with Triple Aught Design to celebrate all the wining, dining, crafting, and creating that has turned the Dogpatch ‘hood into a total destination! Expect a bevy of special offerings from a “chocolate flight” hosted by Poco Dolce to on-site monogramming by the folks at DODOcase. Did we mention that this hip neighborhood’s very own winery, Sutton Cellars, will be offering tastings and vino by the glass? Done and done.
When: Thursday, January 17, 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: 3rd and 22nd streets, no phone.

Bollito Misto at Poggio Trattoria
If your ideal winter evening consists of sitting in a cozy Italian trattoria, noshing on six different kinds of slowly simmered meat dishes with house-made sauces, and sipping on a glass of aged peimontese wine, then this event's for you! The real kicker has to be the fact that the romantic spot’s special winter dish event is priced at $19 per person. If this doesn’t tickle your food and financial fancy, we don't know what will!
When: Tuesday, January 15 through Sunday, March 31, Mondays through Wednesdays
Where: Poggio Trattoria, 777 Bridgeway (between Anchor Street and Humboldt Avenue) Sausalito; 415-332-7771.
Beth Yarnelle Edwards: Suburban Dreams Exhibition
Head across the Bay Bridge this Saturday to peep this S.F.-based photographer’s debut in the California Photography series at the Oakland Museum. Edwards’ photographs recall film stills, focused and fascinated with the relationships between people and their domestic spaces. Having lived in the Silicon Valley suburbs for years, Edwards aims to capture the techie version of the American Dream that pervades such affluent communities.
When: Saturday, January 19 through Sunday, June 30
Where: Oakland Museum of California, 1000 Oak Street (at 10th Street), Oakland; 510-318-8400.
Action & Adventure Opening Reception
We always trust the tastemakers behind local favorite RGB Shop + Gallery, and this new exhibit is no exception. Two Bay Area-based illustrators and printmakers, Carly Dooling and Louise Leong, will showcase their whimsical and powerful prints. We can look forward to Dooling’s representations of common struggles of women everywhere (both the silly and sad), while Leong’s illustrations are sure to illicit some nostalgia, as she pays homage to vintage cartoons with a dose of humor and wit!
When: Saturday, January 19, 6 to 9 p.m.
Where: RGB Shop + Gallery, 324 Fillmore Street (between Union and Filbert streets); 415-474-7742.
