5 Things To Do This Week In L.A.

Exercise your mind and body with the many courses (both the dining and the fitness kind) that are on deck this week. Go on, snack on a gooey grilled cheese — you'll burn those calories off in no time while dancing the night away at MOCA, kicking butt with Amy Dixon, or walking around Bukowski's old 'hood. Just remember to leave room for dessert (of the Coolhaus variety) for that outdoor screening!
Grab A Sammie At Republic Of Laughter Cafe
The way to our hearts is definitely through our stomachs. The happiness we feel when we walk through the doors of the recently opened ROFL Cafe is not only due to the chef's outstanding grilled cheese and short-rib sandwiches (Oprah's a fan!), but the sun-drenched space and words of encouragement that line the walls fill us with joy, too.
When: Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: ROFL Cafe, 7661 Melrose Avenue (between North Spaulding and North Stanley avenues); 323-951-1536.
Follow In The Footsteps Of Charles Bukowski
While the deets are still under wraps, this self-guided tour of the San Pedro resident's stomping grounds is sure to be a must-hit for L.A.'s lit-lovers. Don't forget your walking shoes and your smartphone — the latter will come in handy for scanning the barcodes posted at Bukowski’s favorite haunts.
When: Thursday, August 16, 7 p.m.
Where: San Pedro (visit Facebook for updates)
Tune In With Zola Jesus, Active Child, And Ariel Pink At MOCA
Is the latest installment of PLAY MOCA the best yet? Yes, Benjamin Millepied and Rodarte are back at it again, but this time Zola Jesus and Active Child will be performing and Ariel Pink will be on the ones and twos. No matter what, we'll definitely be sporting our dancing shoes at this free event.
When: Friday, August 17, 6 p.m.
Where: The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, 152 North Central Avenue (at East 1st Street); 213-626-6222.
Catch An Outdoor Screening Of Ghostbusters
Give your Cinespia routine a break and head on over to La Cienega Park in Beverly Hills for a viewing of the classic '80s flick Ghostbusters. Get your laugh on with Bill Murray and treats from L.A.-based food trucks such as Border Grill, Coolhaus, and more. Who you gonna call?
When: Saturday, August 18, 5:30 p.m.
Where: La Cienega Park, 8400 Gregory Way (near West Olympic Boulevard); 310-285-6810.
Burn Those Saturday Night Calories With Amy Dixon
Saturday-night nosh plans? Then consider enrolling in the final (and free!) workshop of Equinox's Summer Workout Series. With fitness expert Amy Dixon as lead instructor, the heat on the outdoor deck won't be the only thing making you sweat. Plus, you could win $500 worth of active apparel from Lorna Jane. Bye-bye boring workout wardrobe!
When: Sunday, August 19, 9 a.m.
Where: Santa Monica Place, 395 Santa Monica Place (at Broadway Street); 310-260-8333.
