It’s Finally Happened: Karl Lagerfeld Is Launching A Makeup Line

Okay, okay — it's a limited-edition cosmetics line with an already existing beauty brand, but still. Karl's doing makeup! Set to be released as a holiday collection in November, the line will be launched with Shu Uemura and will feature packaging and shades designed by Kaiser Karl himself.

WWD
reports that Lagerfeld has been using the cosmetics for over 20 years to hand color his famed illustrations. Remember, this is a man who has two maids for his cat — of course he can't be bothered to use paints like a some sort of plebeian. His reasoning for painting with prestige makeup? "Because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors," he says. Of course.

There will be 17 products in the line and the overall theme is said to reflect the designer's "iconic, ironic style." Karl has already shot the campaign for the shoot, which we imagine is going to be spectacular. The line will be available at over 400 Shu Uemura doors worldwide, but no word on if it will make an appearance online.
We sincerely hope so — Shu Uemura closed down all of its freestanding stores in the U.S. in 2010, meaning the only way we're going to get our hands on this hot cosmetics commodity is if it's available on the web site, or if we bribe some of our overseas readers. You know how much we love you guys, right? Just keep that in mind come November. (WWD)
