Discuss: The Original 9:30 Club Becomes A J.Crew

Perhaps you remember the old days, when the 9:30 Club was on F Street and played host to some of the country's foremost up-and-coming punk acts — or maybe you were in kindergarten at the time. Either way, music history buffs (including The New York Times) agree that the Penn Quarter spot belongs in a rock-and-roll venue hall of fame. Now, in an ironic twist of fate, the storied Atlantic Building will house the District's newest J.Crew store. It seems that the newest preppy outpost (which opens this coming August) will use 950 F Street as its address, instead of 930 F Street, perhaps out of respect to the building's legendary past. Frankly, we're more concerned about whether they've managed to get rid of that smell. (The 6th Floor)
