Today is a sad day in the beauty world: NARS cosmetics just released the news that Marcel, the adorable French Bulldog that was founder François Nars's constant companion, passed away today at the age of 15. Fans of NARS will recognize Marcel from the 2010 ad campaign for the brand's Pro-Prime collection, in which Marcel was the star. It was a revolutionary move for the brand, eschewing traditional beauty campaign values by using a canine to sell skin care products.

We will always remember Marcel for the absolutely amazing photographs that Nars took of his beloved pup throughout the years. We would wait every year in anxious anticipation around the holidays for our card from NARS, as it would feature an awww-inducing photo of Marcel in a new doggy outfit. Here, we've compiled our favorite Marcel looks in a loving retrospective to the beauty industry's most beloved mascot. Rest in peace Marcel, you will be missed.
