Say what you want about Generation Z, but these kids are our future. They lead the charge when it comes to modern-day activism, showing up and speaking out more than most adults do. They're stylish and insanely talented β€” and also happen to be the source of some damn good beauty inspo, too.
Take Storm Reid, for example. Throughout the spring and early summer, the A Wrinkle In Time star wore box braids. Actually, I take that back. She didn't just wear the protective style... she reinvented it in her own way, assembling her long plaits in the most innovative ways we've seen in a while. The young luminary has the right idea: If you're going to spend a hundred and change on your look β€” plus several hours in the salon chair β€” you might as well make the most of it. Check out some of her best styles, ahead.

Her front side bun makes a stronger statement than your typical topknot, and we love the way her beaded braids (and those baby hairs!) frame her face.

You can never go wrong with a classic topknot. Just be especially gentle while scooping your hair up, as the density of the braids can pull on your hairline.

You'll definitely need a good amount of U-pins to hold an updo like this (but isn't the effort worth it?).

A style so easy and chic, a step-by-step isn't required. Just sweep your hair back to your neck, secure with an elastic, and go.

This gorgeous chignon is all about the details: a deep side part, a delicatelu woven braid along the hairline, and perfectly styled baby hairs. If you're having trouble scooping all of your hair into a bun, try using a thin headband or a mini bungee cord for extra stretch.
