In case you haven't heard, Adam McKay, whose hit films include Anchorman and The Big Short, is bringing the world a Dick Cheney biopic.
Variety reports that McKay previously announced that Christian Bale would play the Cheney (insert American Psycho joke here), but left people wondering who could step into the role of the title character's side-kick, President George W. Bush.
For some, Will Ferrell seemed like a natural choice. Not only have he and McKay worked on a number of projects together, but Ferrell also performed as Bush Jr. on Saturday Night Live and on an HBO comedy special.
However, The Hollywood Reporter writes that McKay has chosen to go a different route and has cast Sam Rockwell (Confessions of a Dangerous Man, Seven Psychopaths, 2015's Poltergeist) to fill W's shoes.

Rockwell is currently in the final stages of negotiations and will join a stellar cast that includes Steve Carell (Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld) and Amy Adams (Lynne Cheney), THR reports.
According to Variety, the biopic will take a look at some major moments in Cheney's life, including his service in the Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush administrations, his career as CEO of Halliburton, and his time as Vice President under George W. Bush. Between 9/11, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Hurricane Katrina, McKay will have plenty to dissect.
As A.V. Club points out, McKay could also focus on why and how Cheney avoided enlisting to fight during the Vietnam War and on the time he shot someone while quail hunting.
So far, fans of Rockwell seem a bit conflicted on Twitter. Some are excited for his new role, while others are grappling with the fact that they're attracted to a man who will soon transform into the 43rd president.
