When Amy Schumer posted a long Instagram note about body-shaming earlier this week, we could have guessed that certain celebs would repost it. Maybe Lena Dunham or Blake Lively? One person we did not expect: Vin Diesel. Yet, here he is, giving the comedian major support:
"You beautiful angel...proud of you for writing this post," the xXx star wrote. "Compassion for all, even trolls, is never wrong. #LeadWithLove"
Diesel himself received some insensitive commentary on his body last year, after photos of him looking less than ripped surfaced. "Honestly, I would rather it come to me than somebody else," he told Good Morning America.

Maybe this is what the movement to accept all types of bodies really needs: an action-star spokesman who has the ear of those who wouldn't necessarily tune in to read why Schumer loves her body.
"Is it fat-shaming if you know you're not fat and have zero shame in your game?" Schumer wrote while celebrating her spoken-word Grammy nominations for The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. "I don't think so."
In an ideal world, some of the bullies out there who may be big fans of Diesel would take note of his stance. At the very least, other people who have been bullied, online and off, know they've got one tough dude in their corner, too.
This is all the more fascinating because his most recent post is his Men's Health U.K. January cover, featuring the headline, "Vin Diesel's Blueprint to Wage War on Flab." Perhaps his whole message is this: Wage that war if you want to; embrace the people who don't.
