Teen (& Adult) Sleuths, Drop Everything! A Nancy Drew TV Show Is Coming

Step aside, Huckleberry Finn. Sorry, Elizabeth Bennet. If we had to pick a favorite iconic book character, we're very much leaning toward Nancy Drew. And why not? She's been an influence on some of the sharpest minds of our time. And she taught us ever-so-much about defying the rules, narrowly avoiding danger, and the proper use of the word "plucky." Plus, she's been kicking ass and taking names for over 80 years. (Even though Rob Thomas tried to dethrone her with Veronica Mars — which we also loved deeply and dearly.) So, it comes as no surprise that we're a bit excited about this news. As Deadline reports, a new TV show based on the teenage heroine is in the works. CBS is developing the drama, which will be written and executive produced by Grey's Anatomy and American Beauty alums. According to Deadline, the new show "is a contemporary take on the Nancy Drew character, now in her 30s, who is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world." So, Nancy Drew is finally growing up, after 85 years. But then again, so are we.
