Starbucks Launches Summer’s Last Two Frappuccino Flavors

Photographed by Rachel Gibbons.
Just when we thought summer was over, and we'd begun patiently awaiting freaking out over the imminent return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, Starbucks countered our fall mania with two new Frappuccino flavors. Basically, the coffee company has declared that summer isn't over just yet — and we're more than okay with that. Starbucks is launching limited-time-only Strawberry Shortcake and Blackberries & Crème Frappuccinos, both of which are available starting today. The chain has dubbed these flavors the "Last Sip of Summer," and you'll be able to order them through September 7 at participating locations in the U.S. and Canada. Labor Day landed a week later than usual this year, and these frapps are a celebration of the "extra" week of summer. The Strawberry Shortcake Blended Crème Frappuccino features strawberries, strawberry juice, vanilla bean, hazelnut syrup, milk, and ice, which is then topped with whipped cream. The Blackberries & Crème Frappuccino is a blend of blackberries, vanilla bean, milk, and ice, with whipped cream and cinnamon dolce topping. Refinery29 got a chance to sample the frapps early (yes, we totally geeked out over this) and we can tell you we're really glad summer flavors are sticking around for another week this year. Both beverages feature real berries, so they taste like combination smoothie-milkshakes. My favorite was Strawberry Shortcake (although it was a tough call), because the hazelnut syrup really does make it taste like there are pieces of cake blended into the drink. However, the cinnamon dolce topping on the Blackberries & Crème made it an extra-difficult decision. Want more R29Food?
