What kind of monster would steal a pair of Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz? Correction: What kind of monster who isn't a fictional, green-skinned, water-phobic witch would steal a pair of Dorothy's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz? We may soon find out. As the 10th anniversary of the theft of a pair of ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the classic film looms, an anonymous donor has offered $1 million in reward money for the recovered heels, the Associated Press reports. One of four pairs in existence, the shoes were stolen in August 2005 from the Judy Garland Museum in Garland's hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The donor, said to be a huge Garland and Oz fan living in Arizona, is requesting the exact location of the slippers as well as the identity of the thief. The shoes themselves were insured for $1 million, though John Kelsch, the museum's executive director, estimates that that figure may have doubled or tripled. So, any ideas? Start searching under the couch cushions now, or just keep your eyes peeled for any witches crushed by Kansas farmhouses.
