These First-Ever Same-Sex City Hall Weddings Will Melt Your Heart

It's become a familiar phenomenon — a state legalizes same-sex marriage and a rush of long-partnered couples dash out to city halls and county clerks offices to make official the relationship they've had for years (or decades!) But, with Friday's Supreme Court ruling making marriage equality a right nationwide, we're seeing that rush for the last time.
Across the country — in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas — couples will be allowed to marry beginning as soon as Friday morning in some states and stretching into next week.
Photographer Bonnie Burke set out in Austin, Texas yesterday to photograph the one-of-a-kind scene at City Hall Friday, as couples swarmed the scene to apply for licenses — along with friends, supporters and well-wishers.
Click ahead to get a taste of the scene. Love is legal!
