You’ve Officially Got The Go Ahead To Leave Your House In A Towel

There’s probably only one instance in which you’ve considered stepping outside in just a towel. It’s when you’ve knotted it around yourself post-shower and decide you’d be much more comfortable spending the next several hours in your makeshift terry cloth dress than wiggling into a pair of pants and blazer and going to work. You’re only, like, 30% serious, but Alexander Wang’s Balenciaga resort collection makes a case for going for it all the way.
Wang takes clever cues from the term "resort" and reworks them for the French fashion house's latest collection. Some designs are more obvious — using what appears to be a Balenciaga beach towel fashioned into a pencil skirt or twisting a floral one around the model's torso like a tube top — and others are more suggestive of the theme. It's worth a note that none of them look anything like the terry tracksuits we maybe wore circa '04 — for starters, there's no hot pink.
While Balenciaga has certainly reimagined a towel — beach, bathroom, or otherwise — into something much more fashion-forward, it's not the only label that found inspiration in the ordinary. Ahead, all the looks that allow you to indulge the side of yourself that wants to leave the house without getting drssesed.
