This Lion King & Aladdin Broadway Cast Sing-Off Is Magical

Getting stuck in the airport is never fun. There's nothing nice about canceled or delayed flights, jet lag, lost luggage, or cramped seating at an airline gate. But every now and then there are pleasant surprises, like an empty seat next to you providing extra leg room, a free upgrade to first class or — if you're very lucky — a surprise performance from not one, but two stellar Broadway casts. This past Sunday, the casts of both The Lion King and Aladdin held an impromptu a cappella sing-off, while stranded at LaGuardia Airport. The rain storms might have kept them from their destinations, but it had no barring on their singing. The Lion King cast began with beautiful harmonies, then James Inglehart, who won a 2014 tony Award for his role as the Genie in Aladdin, gave an epic freestyle. The groups went back and forth for several precious minutes, while fellow travelers sang along, and documented the sing-off with their phones. It was truly an event, you wouldn't want to miss. But, don't fret because this is not the first of these performances, and we don't think it'll be the last either, at least not for The Lion King cast. Last April, an Australian cast with unimaginable vocal ranges performed "Circle Of Life" on a Virgin America flight home from Brisbane. Just 4 months later, a different, yet equally talented crew took over an NYC Subway ride. Leave it to New Yorkers to merely glance and keep going about their business. Take a look at the latest video below. We dare you not to sing along.
