There’s a definite change happening in the fast-food landscape, with more restaurants focusing on bringing healthier, fresher ingredients to customers. And now, cult favorite Amy’s Kitchen can count itself among those leading the way with a retail destination that promises to change everything we know about grub on the go.
According to TIME magazine, the organic, vegetarian brand, known for its packaged supermarket items, will open its first drive-thru restaurant in Sonoma County.
The long-awaited endeavor will hawk handmade favorites like gluten-free mac 'n' cheese, pizza, veggie burritos, and more, with all ingredients coming from California farms near the Petaluma headquarters. So now, fans aren’t restricted to shopping Amy’s Kitchen solely at the grocery store. And if the location is a hit, it’s likely the company will expand throughout California.
This isn’t the first news of folks fighting to change the way we approach fast food. Chefs Daniel Patterson and Roy Choi are reimagining quick meals with their chain Loco’l that offers nutritious, cheap, and good food to the masses. And with Pizza Hut and Taco Bell’s recent announcement that they will cut out all artificial ingredients, it seems we’re well on our way to a big shift — and much healthier last-minute dinners.
