Protests are intensifying in Baltimore in anger over the death of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old man who died of a severed spine while in police custody. On Sunday, a stadium full of Orioles fans was asked to stay put for a while because of a big demonstration nearby.
One local broadcaster took to Twitter to complain — and got masterfully shut down, by a somewhat unexpected source.
Brett Hollander, who hosts a sports radio show in Baltimore, has been tweeting up a storm about the protests, mostly focusing on reports of violence and not on what might have sent so many people out to begin with. In keeping with that, he posted this on Sunday.

Unexpectedly, none other than John Angelos, the COO of the Orioles (and son of its owner) responded with a long, multi-tweet rebuttal — far too elegant to be called a rant. You can read the whole thread (and its many celebratory responses) on Twitter, but some folks have also helpfully transcribed it.
There's not really much to add, except: If you turn on cable news today, you'll see pictures of burned-out convenience stores and reports of injured officers. As you do, it's worth also trying to think of what very real concerns are driving the demonstrators to begin with.
