The Easiest Way To Feel Like An Adult Princess

Growing up, when all you wanted in life was to wear your Princess Jasmine Halloween costume to school for the entire week, it was easy to imagine how epic your outfits would be when you were finally an adult. Every day, it would be princess dresses and cowboy boots and that astronaut helmet your cool aunt got for you at NASA. In reality, as you gained more agency over your sartorial choices, you tabled those fantasy aspirations. But, here’s a way to spark your royal imagination while still satisfying the requirements of your adult life (like, not freaking out your boss at work) — all with one garment.
It’s the princess coat, as imagined by Antonio Marras. Think of the designer's princess as a boots-wearing, Narnia-inhabiting, badass warrior who also appreciates her florals. While you can't get away with wearing a full-on princess dress every day, you can wear a princess coat — especially if you match it with minimal separates (as Marras did in his show) such as basic turtlenecks and practical culottes. It also works paired with cropped, vintage jeans and a sweatshirt (a.k.a. the look we wore to shows all day yesterday). Or, wear it by itself with ankle boots, and you’ve got yourself a party look (Amal Clooney-approved elbow-length gloves not required, but strongly advised).
The most brilliant part is that when you don a coat like this, you’ll instantly feel as lovely as you did dressed up as Jasmine, without risking the side-eye that sheer, blue harem pants and a bra will get you these days. Plus, just take off the topper and head to coat check if you need to tone it down — you can do it up again on your way out.
