Sony cancelled the theatrical release of The Interview yesterday and Hollywood is not happy. Celebrities immediately took to social media to criticize Sony's decision. The common sentiment was that our right to free speech had been compromised, with Aaron Sorkin leading the charge.
"Today the U.S. succumbed to an unprecedented attack on our most cherished, bedrock principle of free speech by a group of North Korean terrorists who threatened to kill moviegoers in order to stop the release of a movie," Sorkin said in a statement to Deadline Hollywood.
Other celebrities urged Sony to release the film online. "RELEASE 'THE INTERVIEW' TO ALL! WE WILL SHOW IT ON OUR PHONES, IN THE STREETS, OUR HOMES, OUR CARS. Wait, I think I can get it online," wrote comic Marc Maron in a tweet.

Unfortunately for Maron and anyone dying to see the what has quickly become one of the most controversial films of all time, Sony has "no further release plans” for the comedy.
