Cosby Costar’s Twitter Account Suspended

On Saturday night, social media went into a fury after an an unverified account presumed to be that of former Cosby Show star Lisa Bonet posted some cryptic tweets many assumed to be aimed at her former TV dad Bill Cosby amid the resurgence of his sexual assault allegations.
Page Six immediately jumped on the tweets, citing old tabloid reports that Bill Cosby and Lisa Bonet, who played daughter Denise Huxtable, didn’t get along during their Cosby Show run. Cosby reportedly handled their tension on the set by spinning her popular character off into A Different World, a sitcom set in a black college. Page Six cited Bonet's absence from “a 2002 anniversary special” and the fact that she bowed out of the show’s tenth anniversary special. Bonet was also noticeably absent from the cast reunion at the 2011 TV Land Awards and all other reunions with the her fellow Cosby Show alums.

Although many media outlets were quick to assume that these tweets were Bonet’s attempts at speaking out amid the renewed public outcry amid Cosby’s rape allegations and the growing number of accusers speaking out, things took a bizarre turn when the account was suspended overnight. Buzzfeed’s Kate Aurthur then posted the following tweet:
Assuming the account was indeed fake, then it’s pretty strange for someone to be running a fake Lisa Bonet account now, well past the height of the actress’s popularity. The account had been up and running for some time and wasn’t something that just appeared to respond specifically to the growing number of women coming forward with an assault allegation. As one Twitter user pointed out:
Aurthur also tweeted another message from Bonet’s manager:
If the account was indeed a long running impostor, then Bonet joins Raven-Symone as the second Cosby kid who wants to be kept out of the conversation regarding Cosby’s disturbing history with women. (Page Six)
