Baby Otter Learns To Swim; Hearts Melt

Certain people were born to do certain things. Sam Smith was born to sing. Amy Poehler was born to rap. And otters, well, they were born to swim. Just ask Pup 681, the baby otter orphan who was found on a California beach in September. After being nurtured back to health by the fine folks at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Pup 681 went on her first major cross-country trip, when she was transferred to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. It's there that she snatched her birthright by the tail and learned how to swim.
“It truly takes a village to rehabilitate a young sea otter," said Tim Binder, vice president of animal collections for the Shedd Aquarium in a press release about the otter accomplishment. "Our animal care team is teaching the pup how to be an otter.”
And, based on the video below, they're doing a darn good job.
