Neil Patrick Harris will host the 2015 Academy Awards. Take one look at the actor's recent resume and this should come as no surprise. NPH has quickly become Hollywood's host with the most after his multiple tours of duty as emcee of both the Tonys and the Emmys. In other words, no one is as comfortable with making a room of nervous celebrities feel at ease as Dr. Doogie Howser himself.
"To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true," Harris said in a statement on Wednesday.

The actor also posted a video of him circling "Host the Oscars" on his bucket list.
"We have watched him explode as a great performer in feature films, television and stage," said Academy Awards co-producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a joint statement. "To work with him on the Oscars is the perfect storm, all of his resources and talent coming together on a global stage."
While NPH is already halfway to an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), all he needs is the job as Grammy host and he'll have an EGOT of a different order.
The 87th annual Academy Awards will air February 22, 2015 on ABC, but you can start getting pumped for the opening musical number right...about....now! (Variety)
